Prisoner Reentry Programs

The Rock Found is a Greeley CO, non-profit organization developed in efforts to give back to the community as a prisoner reentry program and partner to other organizations with the same goal to give back. Recidivism is a major problem in the United States with a 2014 National Institute of Justice report showing a greater than 75% prisoner re-incarceration rate within 5 years of their release. The Rock Found makes continuous efforts in providing these individuals a planned out set of useful tools for proper rehabilitation. We, like other prisoner reentry programs, have found that in helping these individuals with particularly difficult to obtain but necessary accommodations they are much more likely to perform as productive members of their community. We provide services such as aid with:

  • Finding Employment
  • Securing Housing
  • Continuing Education
  • Increasing Prosocial Behavior & Self Esteem

Successful prisoner reentry programs have an arsenal of tools and tactics that are executed to work synergistically. Helping individuals that have been in prison, jail, or probation brings with it numerous benefits not only directly to that individual, but also their families and people they interact with on a day-to-day basis through association. A working individual can contribute economically to their family’s necessities; this can help rebuild relationships and instill more trust within the individual. Prisoner reentry programs such as The Rock Found can ameliorate the mental health, self-esteem, and overall lives of people who have made mistakes but want to better themselves.

The Rock Found like many other prisoner reentry programs understands that helping recently released individuals find safe living spaces is a necessary portion of helping these individuals reintegrate themselves correctly into their community. In order the reduce any issue one must dive deep into locating the different roots it has. Reduction of ex-prisoner homelessness directly translates to a reduction of recidivism.

For the first month after incarceration, we work extensively with individuals getting to know them and making assessments of their particular needs. We take this time to learn information about their history and current situation and use these to help determine and set short-term and long-term goals.

The Rock Found has two small businesses that help propel their efforts forward. Raised in a Barn is a producer of beautiful wooden furniture made from torn down barns’ recycled timber in Colorado. The second business is CSK’s Grill food truck and catering services which specialize in Texan style BBQ cuisine. A large portion of revenue generated from these businesses gets directly reinvested into the Rock Found in order to keep this faith-based program growing. Not only do these businesses bring in money for the program they will also employ many of the individuals from the program as we work to stabilize them into a positive routine.
